Item Description
Artist: Daniel Nash
Piece Title: Harvest Moon
Description: The inspiration for 'Harvest Moon' is based upon Van Gogh’s 'The Starry Night', which was part of a larger study of the view from his room at the Saint-Paul asylum, where he checked himself in after cutting off his ear. I incorporated the view from my studio room which looks out onto my brother’s farm. When lit with a full moon, the rural scene is impressive with the sky and stars brightly illuminated, away from city light pollution. The scene is also perfectly framed by large trees and farm roofs which act as my kind of 'moonlit town.' The view includes a busy flight path, so instead of stars, the airplanes act as lights in the sky with jet streams to conveying a sense of modern luminated motion.
Inspiration: The Starry Night, Vincent Van Gogh, 1889
Size: 24x36
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
