Item Description
Want to enjoy the outdoor beauty of Northern Virginia while learning a thing or two about fishing?
HMSTC Member Bryan Lane and his daughter Lillian are offering a family outing to learn the ins and outs of fishing one Saturday Morning! He has hosted this class to many happy area kiddos in 2019 and 2021 and recently got conferred by The Zebra Press in Alexandria.
During this 3-hour session, he and his daughter will cover some beginner fishing basics:
• Safety
• Equipment
• Tackle
• Bait Options
• Simple Knot Tying
• Fish Recognition
• Casting
• Good Stewardship
After a short instruction period, the children and adults will have a chance to put these newly learned skills to the test!
Items to bring:
• Sun Lotion
• Plenty of Water
• Snack
• Closed-Toe Shoes
• Hat
• Bug Spray
• Trash bag (to ensure we leave with more trash from the shoreline than what we bring)
Fishing Poles will be supplied that each child will be able to keep! (And the adults to use).
Due to the skill in fishing, this package is recommended for families with children ages 5 and older. The fishing will be from the shore, no boat required!
This item has been graciously donated by Bryan Lane and his daughter Lillian.
