Item Description

This raku pottery piece was hand made by a long-time FOHA volunteer in his home pottery studio.  The unique finish was achieved using a process called "naked raku." The piece is covered with a protective clay slip and glaze, fired in an outdoor kiln and then placed in a reduction bin. The smoke from the reduction bin process permeates cracks in the protective slip-glaze, resulting in the unique black coloration on the piece's surface. No two pieces finished with this process will have the same appearance. This is truly a one-of-a-kind piece of art that will provide a great accent piece in your home or office.

Please note that you should not put water in this piece. Due to the nature of the raku finishing process the clay is still porous and not water tight. This piece should be displayed on its own or with dry materials in it.

Vase is approximately 7" tall.
