The Moth Ball Online Auction 2010 is now open! Bidding will close at 11:59PM on November 18, 2010, two days after our annual benefit, The Moth Ball.
The funds raised by the auction will benefit the groundbreaking MothSHOP Community Program. The program helps to transform the lives of more than 1,000 high school students and underserved New Yorkers each year, whose access to free storytelling workshops includes a final show where students deliver their own story, live and without notes. The program’s graduates are empowered with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in meeting multiple educational and future workforce challenges - in the words of Thalia, a 16 year old high school student, “Before I told the story it was just something that happened - but when I told it, I felt it all.”
This year's Moth Ball, co-hosted by Jonathan Ames and Mike Birbiglia, will light up the elegant Capitale in New York City on Tuesday, November 16, 2010. The evening will include a VIP cocktail party, dinner, dancing, a silent auction and an unforgettable storytelling show, including a story told by Adam Gopnik. The Moth award, designed by Jonathan Adler, will be presented to Calvin Trillin. Tickets are now at sale at www.themoth.org/ball.
