Mission
BAU Institute’s mission is to nurture the creativity of fellows in architecture and all the arts through residencies and workshops providing an international forum for work, invention and exchange of ideas in Building, Arts, and Urbanism.

Short History
Founder, architect, Paola Iacucci began the Otranto Foundation seven years ago to share her knowledge and love of the amazing city of Otranto, Italy, with her American students. She invited many prominent international professors and their students to join her architecture school. In 2004, she invited the painter Marthe Keller to expand the program to include visiting critics and professionals in all the arts. The Italian residency has grown to include 200 international artists of all disciplines. The summer program allows a select group to engage in an intensive cross-cultural experience, living in the ancient walled city by the Adriatic Sea and working in studios in the Castle of Otranto.
BAU is thrilled to be partnering with Art OMI in Ghent, NY on an architecture research project and with SENA Projects in Hudson, NY on a program of exhibitions. The Institute is sponsoring an exciting new workshop program in NYC called BAUTUTE.
The Institute’s future goal is to develop its non-profit status to increase its base of support for arts fellowships, creative programs and exhibitions linking international urban and cultural projects.
