On April 27, 2013, in their game against the Philadelphia
Union at Gillette Stadium, the New England Revolution showed support for not only the victims of the April 15 bombings at the Boston Marathon, but also showed support for leukemia research. Both issues directly touch the Revolution family: goalkeeper Matt Reis’s father-in-law and defender Chris Tierney’s girlfriend were both injured in the bombings, while defender Kevin Alston was recently diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), a rare but treatable form of leukemia. Funds from this auction will be distributed by the New England Revolution Charitable Foundation to The One Fund – Boston (BAA jackets) and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (autographed jerseys).
