Why Should You Bid in The Intelligent Optimist Holiday Auction Before It Ends Sunday?

The idea of an auction conjures up an image of a white-haired man with a gavel calling out “Going once, going twice!”

The Intelligent Optimist Holiday Auction is a different beast. Conceived to help close the gap between flagging ad revenues and burgeoning programming at The Intelligent Optimist, the auction has grown to the point that it’s backed by an influential network of companies, organizations and individuals working to midwife a shared vision of a more creative, peaceful, just, innovative, sustainable and openly sacred world. That network includes Patagonia, Esalen, Biomimicry 3.8, the Omega Institute, Bioneers, Frances Moore Lappe, Charles Eisenstein, Bruce Lipton, Jean Houston, Michael Franti, Berrett-Koehler press, Spirituality & Health, Dave Eggers and hundreds more.

Maybe more important, it includes hundreds of thousands of you. You don’t, perhaps, own a multimillion-dollar company that pioneered the use of recycled plastic in outdoor clothing. You don’t, perhaps, count as a thought leader outside your community or even your home. Nevertheless, you’re a player in the most progressive social-change movement of our time, the one that serves as common ground between us. It has been termed the cultural creativity movement; a few lifetimes ago, it was known as the New Age movement. We don’t know what to call it anymore, but it’s there nonetheless, the glue that binds a tribe of renegades recognizable to one another and determined to narrow the gap between actual and potential.

That’s why it’s important that you make a bid for a better world by supporting both The Intelligent Optimist and the movement behind us. Because the stronger we are, the bigger role we can play in the renaissance. And because the more people who buy their goods without the involvement of chain stores, crowds, brand names or the other trappings of consumerism, the closer we get to that new reality.

We’ve made it easy for you.

We’re auctioning off accommodations and tours in Greece, Rome, Maui, Costa Rica, Amsterdam, Colorado, Sacramento, the Bay Area, New York (both the Omega Institute and the Suminski Innski) and Big Sur.

We’ve got workshops and sessions with Jean Houston, Rob Williams, Bradford Keeney, Alberto Villoldo, Johan Boswinkel, Gail Larsen, Roy Martina, Dr. Norm Shealy, the Entrepreneur’s Guide to Enlightnment, Richard Tarnas, Margaret Wheatley and the Yestermorrow Design/Build School.

We’re offering consultations with Intelligent Optimist Editor Marco Visscher, astrologers Mark Borax and Peter Delahay, natural burial advocate Cynthia Beal and others.

And we’re excited to have on hand a Savvy Rest organic mattress, Q-link pendants, Life Is Good gear and Traditional Medicinals baskets.

Bidders can get their manuscripts published by Berrett-Koehler, pitch articles ideas to The Intelligent Optimist’s associate editor, and get a membership to The Intelligent Optimist at the lowest price possible. We have autographed books by leaders like Rupert Sheldrake, Bruce Lipton, Dave Eggers and more.

All in all, we have almost 300 items valued at upwards of $150,000. And get this: The average bids are 25% to 40% of the value of each item.

But the auction ENDS at 6 p.m. Pacific, 9 p.m. Eastern this Sunday, December 2. So make your bids now—and let’s get on with the renaissance!
