Scouting…Service to Others
Wednesday, April 27, 2011 started off just like any other day.  Then the waves of storm after storm began. In total, 26 verified tornado touchdowns were recorded in the Greater Chattanooga area served by the Cherokee Area Council, BSA.

Scouts have been taught for over 100 years to serve others.  These lessons were not lost as Scout responded in force to assist their neighbors in the time of need.  Removing brush and downed trees, collecting and distributing bottled water, and providing food to rescue volunteers became the Daily Good Turn for many of our youth and volunteer leaders.

Scouting’s lessons of character, leadership, mental and physical fitness and service to others are values that today’s youth will carry with them throughout life.
