CASA of San Mateo County is having an online auction fundraiser Monday, August 17 through Thursday, August 27th, 2015.  

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) are paired with children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect.  The volunteer Advocates provide consistent support during traumatic events, such as changes in home placements, schools and foster families.  With access to their foster children's school and medical records, they keep an open dialogue and facilitate information sharing with the individuals and professionals in the children's lives-- caregivers, social workers, teachers, lawyers, therapists and others, helping them to be better informed and to coordinate ongoing care.  CASA Volunteers spend much more one on one time with the children than the professionals involved in the child's life who are often only involved on a short-term basis.  As a result, CASA Volunteers have a more holistic perspective and can assess the child's needs in a much broader context.  For many children, CASA Volunteers are the only consistent adults in their lives who can provide a stabilizing force during times of uncertainty and upheaval.

It costs $2,500/yr. to pair one child with a caring CASA Volunteer.  Last year, we served 286 foster children but there are many more on our growing waitlist.  Your generosity allows us to increase the number of CASA Volunteers who can ensure more foster children access the services they need to heal and to thrive.
