Herbert H. Lehman College Foundation, Inc.
The primary mission of the Herbert H. Lehman College Foundation, Inc. is – on behalf of Lehman College – to raise, invest and distribute private funds for scholarships, faculty support and other educational needs of Lehman College. The Foundation is an independent 501-c-3 Corporation governed by a volunteer board of community, business and education leaders as well as alumni of the College, and is managed by an executive director. In addition to its fundraising obligations, the Foundation serves as a window for the wider community through which to learn about and participate in the life of Lehman College.

Lehman at a Glance:
- Type of College: A senior liberal arts college in The City University of New York, founded in 1968 and offering 51 undergraduate majors and programs; 46 graduate degree programs; 17 graduate certificates; and 11 doctoral programs in conjunction with the CUNY Graduate Center.
- Location: 37-acre campus in the northwest Bronx, across from the Jerome Park Reservoir and centered along a major educational corridor with five neighboring public schools.
- Enrollment: (Fall 2013): 9,866 undergraduate students and 2,199 graduate students, for a total of 12,065 students.
- Undergraduate Profile: (Fall 2013): Gender: 69% female / 31% male. Age: Under 25: 55% / Over 25: 45%.
- Honors Students: (Fall 2013): 209, including the Macaulay Honors College at Lehman (77) and the Lehman Scholars Program (132).
- Degrees Awarded: (AY 2012-13): 1,783 bachelor's degrees; 721 master's degrees.
- Notable Faculty: Seven Distinguished Professors, including Billy Collins, Poet Laureate of the United States (2001-2003) and New York State Poet Laureate (2004-2006), and composer John Corigliano, winner of both the Academy Award (2000) and the Pulitzer Prize for Music (2001).
- Alumni: Over 67,000 in law, medicine, teaching, business, the arts, social services, and healthcare. Almost half live in the Bronx or elsewhere in New York City.
- Research: For FY 2013, Lehman was awarded $14.4 million from Federal and State agencies as well as private sources to support scholarly research and to provide special services to local K-12 schools, community organizations, and residents of the Bronx and the metropolitan area.
Recent Recognition:
- Ranked by U.S. News & World Report as a Tier 1 institution among regional universities in the North for four consecutive years; Top 40 public college and No. 5 among all colleges in the North for graduates with the least debt; graduate Social Work Program (MSW) among the Top 100 in the nation.
- Ranked No. 56 among master's universities for social mobility, research, and service (Washington Monthly).
- Celebrated 20 years as a founding member of Hispanic Educational Technology Services (HETS), a bilingual consortium of institutions that works to expand the educational opportunities and the access to the post-secondary education to the Hispanic community.
- Former Verizon chairman and CEO Ivan Seidenberg (Class of '72) received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.
- Ricardo Kriebel, Ph.D. student in plant sciences, won the prestigious George R. Cooley Award for the Best Contributed Paper in Plant Systematics by the American Society of Plant Taxonomists.
- Student-produced video news magazine “Inside Lehman,” 14 television productions, 23 awards since 2004 and two Emmy nominations.
