Magical Music for Life Foundation will present its fifth annual TUNES IN TIMES SQUARE benefit concert Sunday, May 1, 2016 on Broadway in Times Square.  The goal of this high-energy concert is to financial support to produce a new original album of free, downloadable songs for water safety and swimming skills applicable to children with and without special needs, raise awareness of our positive message education music, and funds to perform our musical writen especially for children with autism and other special needs.  Help us save lives - drowning is the leading cause of death for typical children under the age of 4 (second leading cause of death under the age of 14 in these children) and leading cause for autistic children under the age of 14.

The event will be a continuous sing-a-thon at 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., where preselected, talented children and groups will perform on the same stage as Broadway / other professional actors and the Magical Music singing groups.

There will be many exciting items to bid on and win in the online and silent auction and raffle, including tickets for many Broadway (including HAMILTON) and other NYC & LA shows and events with backstage tours, travel, autographed items, travel, dining, unique items, etc. Donations will be gladly accepted at the event, at this bidding site, or www.magicalmusic.org.

WHY?

While music is magic therapy for us all, it can make the difference between withdrawal and awareness for those with special needs. Lyrical melodies, rhythms, and harmonies can elicit a response in children that stimulates learning, promotes responsiveness, encourages communication, and fosters growth. When used to empower and evoke connectedness in children with autism and special needs, music is truly transformative.

Magical Music is thrilled that the funds raised at last year’s TUNES IN TIMES SQUARE enabled us to create our first “Songs for Skills” album, A Day in the Life of a Child, a collection of free downloadable original songs written especially for children with special needs and autism, and to stage a travelling show based on the album taken to schools, libraries, etc.  Our goal is to provide children of all abilities with music that engages and transforms the way they understand themselves, others, and the world around them.

“What a wonderful gift to the special needs community!! With clever lyrics and great melodies, these songs hold the Magic of Music in the way they bring important skills to every child. I hope that parents and educators the world over will download this music and encourage their friends to do the same!!“ ~ Karen Nisenson, Arts for Healing

This year’s TUNES IN TIMES SQUARE proceeds will be used to 1) produce out new water safety & swimming album as an available free resource for both water safety programs and parents who have children with and without special needs; and 2) continue our on-going programs available at no charge to serve the specific needs of therapists, parents, and children and as an accessible resource for people everywhere.  Drowning is the leading cause of death for all children up to the age of 4 and in children with autism up to the age of 14. For each drowning death, 15 other children are admitted to the emergency rooms and end up suffering permanent brain damage.

If you want to make a difference for your child or a child you know, we hope that you will consider making a donation or bid on our auction items to help us continue our mission to create music for all children.
