What We Do Matters: Serving Vulnerable and Marginalized Children and Adults
WJC’s Center for Multicultural and Global Mental Health is designed to inspire and empower students, clinicians, educators, and other providers to act as agents of social justice with a passion for and commitment to serving historically marginalized populations in the U.S. and abroad. Programs include the Latino Mental Health Program, the African and Caribbean Mental Health Program, the Global Mental Health Program, and the Black Mental Health Initiative. The Center enriches the knowledge of students, behavioral health professionals, educators, community leaders, and service providers on emerging issues and critical trends in multicultural mental health. Prioritizing services to historically marginalized individuals, families, and communities, the Center supports the rigorous application of science to examining mental health disparities and the impact of multicultural and global factors on health and psychosocial functioning. Transformative immersion experiences – at home and abroad - expose, inform, and deepen students' knowledge, cultural awareness and sensitivity, and cultural fluency.
