Our Mission
HETRA's mission is to improve the quality of life both physically and emotionally of adults and children of all ability levels through equine assisted activities. We rely on supporters to keep our programs running and our services affordable for families.
A Summer of Sadness
Sadly, this summer, we experienced the worst crisis in our organization's history. Six of our 21 horses contracted Coronavirus - a virus not known to be active in our area of the country. The diligent, round-the-clock efforts of our staff and veterianarian support just wasn't enough. We lost one horse, were forced to close our barn for four weeks, incurred exhorbitant veterianian fees, and lost income due to program cancellations. During this crisis, we were also hit by a storm which left the property damaged and without power for five days. As you can imagine, it will take quite some time to recover financially.
Recovery
Our programs have resumed and our riders and participants are back at the barn. And our barn is where our participants need to be. By bidding in this auction you are helping keep our costs affordable, and our organization's recovery.
