The YouthQuest Foundation’s mission is to provide academic and vocational opportunities, and life-enriching experiences, for at-risk youth. We want all children to achieve their full potential. YouthQuest was founded in 2005 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a focus on getting high school dropouts re-engaged in education.

YouthQuest developed the 3D ThinkLink Initiative to give at-risk youth the knowledge, skills and experience they need to prepare for continued education or entry-level jobs in STEAM-related fields. We use instruction in 3D design and printing as a vehicle to teach critical thinking and problem-solving skills, encourage creativity and boost self-confidence. We have trained more than 300 students since the project launched in 2013.

We provide classes at National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Programs in Maryland, South Carolina and the District of Columbia, which operate residential schools where dropouts get a second chance to get their lives back on track. We also work with the PHILLIPS schools, which serve students with autism in Annandale and Fairfax, Virginia, and Horizons Hampton Roads, which runs enrichment programs for low-income children in the Tidewater area.

We were honored to be chosen as a semifinalist in last year’s competition for the Drucker Prize, which rewards innovation by nonprofit organizations, and a nominee for 2017 Public Service Innovator of the Year in the Greater Washington Innovation Awards.

YouthQuest is also the prize money sponsor for the annual Step Up Loudoun Youth Competition, which challenges teens in Loudoun County, Virginia, to create solutions to problems they see in their community.
