Maine's Bureau of Parks and Lands is getting ready to host an online auction to celebrate the Allagash Wilderness Waterway's 50th anniversary.

Starting August 1, 2016, we will be auctioning a number of fun and unique items to benefit the Allagash Wilderness Waterway (AWW).  Established by the Maine State Legislature in 1966, the 92-mile Allagash Wilderness Waterway in northern Maine is one of America's preeminent canoe trips.

The highlight of the auction will be a one-of-a-kind 50^th anniversary wooden canoe built by Rollin Thurlow of Northwoods Canoe Co.  The 17½ foot Atkinson Traveler Canoe is being built with cedar from the Allagash Waterway, spruce from Baxter Park and maple from Piscataquis County - a true Northern Maine canoe!  The canoe will be painted forest green, featuring the AWW logo on the bow.
