succeed in college and life, through challenging academics and excellence in
teaching, in a community founded on personal relationships, student initatve,
and integrity.

Student Statement: JHCS students arrive curious about the world, develop skills and confidence in an engaging community, and graduate empowered to make meaningful contributions.

Summary: Founded in 2004, the Community School graduated its 10th class of seniors in the spring of 2016. We have had a number of reports from graduates that they feel extremely well prepared to meet the challenges that college and life put before them. We could not be prouder that over the last decade The Community School has:

  • Worked in-depth with nearly 160 students preparing them for success in college.
  • Maintained small class sizes (11 student average) with 5:1 student/teacher rato.
  • Provided at least 40% of our students with scholarship support each year.
  • Contributed over 10,000 hours of service to the local community.
  • Built-out new facilites with 4 new classrooms and additonal offices.
  • Hired and retained outstanding faculty and staff—76% hold graduate degrees.
  • Had students score above local, state and national averages on ACTs and SATs.
  • Helped JHCS seniors gain admitance to 194 colleges and universites.
