Hearts & Homes for Refugees Art Auction

"Glimpses of the Places They Called Home"

The Auction is now Closed.

Please support Hearts & Homes for Refugees with a tax deductable donation.

Your Donation Will Help A Refugee Family

For five years, Hearts & Homes for Refugees has been building and working with a growing network of volunteers across our region to welcome and assist refugees. When the pandemic hit in March, our focus turned to bringing relief to vulnerable families in our area - refugees who had once before fled life threatening situations in the places they called home, and were now facing the collective trauma of COVID-19.

As we say goodbye to 2020, Hearts & Homes, together with our many partners and volunteers, will continue to stand by those who need support, whether their challenges are due to COVID or other hardships. We are also excited to greet new arrivals, some who have been waiting years to join their families and find safe and welcoming communities.

Your bid will mean so much to the refugee families we serve. A few hundred dollars might buy groceries for a family of six in quarantine. A thousand dollars can assist with rent for those who have just arrived or may have lost a job.

If you are unable to bid on a painting, you can still support refugees by going to our website and making a donation. Please act, and please act generously. Your support means the world to the refugees already in our communities and those we will welcome in the future. Every dollar collected through this auction will enable Hearts & Homes for Refugees to welcome, assist and advocate for refugees.

About the Artist

lori photo  In addition to serving as a member of the Board of Directors and an active volunteer for Hearts & Homes for Refugees, Lori Kapner Hosp co-leads the organization's Helping Hands program, which offers short-term support to newly settled refugee families.

In recent years, Lori's artwork has been included in exhibitions at Pelham Art Center in Pelham, NY and in the Beaux Arts Exhibition in Dobbs Ferry, NY. She thoroughly enjoys painting with her esteemed instructor Eleanor Miller at Pelham Art Center.

Lori is also a member of the Board of Trustees for Scarsdale Synagogue in Scarsdale, NY. In the past, she served as a member of the Board of Directors of New York Women In Communications, Inc. (NYWICI) and as Co-Chair of Development for the organization's prestigious Matrix Awards for several years. Lori has also served on the Advisory Board for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Prior to Lori's volunteer career, she worked for over 25 years in the communications industry as a strategist in global branding, identity creation and business development.

In creating the Glimpses series, Lori was inspired by her sculptor mother's artistic energy, her husband Walter's generous spirit, her childrens' creative support -- and by the refugee friends she has made through her engagement with Hearts & Homes for Refugees.
