Item Description
Join CPS friends and families for a guided hike of the Estero Trail at Point Reyes National Seashore. This is a beautiful moderate trail of approximately 9.4 miles (round trip length) with a combination of great waterfowl, raptor and shore bird watching, leisurely tide pool observation and squirting clam avoidance. Seals and pelicans usually abound. Picnic lunch will be provided, as will a discussion of the on-going controversy surrounding oyster farming at Point Reyes, and its impact to the environment. May 12, 2012.
Item Special Note
Date of the hike will be May 12, 2012, with an alternative of May 19, 2012 if heavy rain causes us to delay. We are able to take a maximum of 12 people. Please bring sturdy hiking shoes/boots (especially if soggy conditions prevail) and binoculars (we will have a few pair to share). You will need to be able to get to the trailhead to meet us, but we will try to coordinate carpooling as much as possible and provide directions. Duration of the hike depends on how long we spend at the beach and tide pools prior to returning.
