Item Description
1 bottle each:
2012 Jeff Cohn Cellars, Bottichelli Vineyard, Rockpile
Dark like wearing sunglasses at midnight and loaded with raspberry, bing cherry, black licorice, plums with hints of baking spice, milk chocolate, and held together with bright acidity. With a little air, the chocolate leads to a bouquet of fleur de sel and fresh tilled soil. This is a massive wine that will benefit from some time in the bottle and will leave you speechless with a lot to think about.
2012 Beekeeper Cellars, Madrone Spring Vineyard, Rockpile
The purple colored, floral, & spicy 2012 maintain great balance inside a massive frame with an abundance of richness, aroma, texture, tannin and a Rockpile core of acidity. The nose ranges from purple crayon, red cherry “red hot” cinnamon candy, Asian plum, cracked black pepper, white pepper, root beer, dried herbs, dark spices, dried under- brush, heavy stone, and graphite. There is a “mean,” almost sinister streak of black fruit, black earth, and dark spices in this vintage. It has been an amazing wine to watch unwind and we delayed release for several months to allow it more time.
2014 Seghesio Family Vineyards, Rockpile
93PTS - WINE SPECTATOR
Aromas of spice box, leather and black cherry. Intense flavors of currant, casis and Zinfandel’s briary essence. Focused acidity and an extremely long finish.
2012 Rockpile Winery, Pritchett Peaks Vineyard, Rockpile
Characteristic of the incredible 2012 vintage, this wine has it all. The nose is a combination of high-toned dark fruit, sweet spice and subtle oak. On the entry, there is both concentration and power. Bramble-berry and hints of black pepper coalesce into blackberry cobbler in the mid- palate. Balance is the name of the game on the finish: The broad tannins and bright acid mesh perfectly, showing the wine’s aging potential. Enjoy the 2012 Pritchett Peaks Zinfandel over the next 7-10 years.
2012 Carol Shelton Wines, Rocky Reserve, Florence Vineyard, Rockpile
From a 1,400-foot-high site, this wine combines 86% Zinfandel with 14% Petite Sirah, which deliciously exude blackberry, blueberry, kirsch and leather. Smooth, soft and juicy, it adds nutmeg, chocolate and oak as it goes, finishing with structure and length. Drink now through 2021.
