Item Description

Point Reyes National Seashore Association is delighted to partner with the National Park Service at Point Reyes on this fun and informed park adventure!

Gather up to 10 of your favorite family and friends for an unforgettable two-night weekday (Sunday through Friday) sojourn at the historic Coast Guard Lifeboat Station at Chimney Rock in Point Reyes National Seashore. You and your guests will enjoy rustic accommodations in your choice of seven bunkrooms, with use of three bathrooms, a commercial kitchen and nearby park trails.

During the day your group will be treated to an outdoor wildlife education adventure, 4 to 5 hours of bird watching at several locations throughout the National Seashore for 8 to 10 people, with John Dell'Osso, Chief of Interpretation & Resource Education for Point Reyes National Seashore.

You and your birding party will spend time identifying birds by sight and sound in the best locations within the Seashore. The park is host to over 54% of the species of birds found in all of North America! That's nearly 500 species.

Dates for this educational birding excursion are relatively open and group size would be comfortable between 8 and 10 people. For this trip, you will carpool to various locations. You and your group should wear comfortable clothes and shoes and bring a picnic lunch and drink with you.

Time of year for your park adventure is flexible, and the best and most diverse time of year would be fall/winter, anytime from October through early March. Specific locations will be decided upon after the date is set.

John Dell'Osso is the Chief of Interpretation and Resource Education for Point Reyes National Seashore. He also serves as the Public Information Officer for the Seashore and has worked for the NPS for 34 years. He has birded every corner of the U.S. from Florida to Alaska and from the desert southwest to the New England coast. He has also led the Annual Christmas Bird Count for Kids (CBC4Kids) at Point Reyes since its inception in 2011 and has participated in the CBC at Point Reyes for over 30 years.  He recently coauthored the National Seashore's checklist of birds with Jules Evens and Rich Stallcup; you will receive two copis of this checklist.

You will also receive, courtesy of the PRNSA Bookstores, a copy of the Point Reyes birdlist and a copy of a book on Point Reyes birds.

Support your park and have an amazing Point Reyes birding adventure, bid now!
