Item Description

"I've been fortunate to photograph Bald Eagles in the wild many times in the past few years. I had wanted to do a classic "portrait", but it's impossible (not to mention illegal) to get close enough to a wild bird to capture the level of detail needed for the painting I envisioned. This bird was one of two males at the Vermont Institute of Natural Science raptor re-hab facility in Quechee. He had been injured in a collision with a car and, despite the excellent care provided by the staff vet, he would not be able to survive in the wild. He provided me with just the opportunity I was looking for, and the November sun helped by bathing him in warm back-lighting."
