About The Portuguese Kid:
This feisty romantic comedy comes from playwright/director John Patrick Shanley, the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Doubt and Outside Mullingar, and the Academy Award-winning screenwriter of Moonstruck. The production is part of Manhattan Theatre Club's current season.
SYNOPSIS: In Providence, Rhode Island, habitually widowed Atalanta pays a visit to her second-rate lawyer Barry Dragonetti. Intending to settle her latest husband’s affairs, this larger-than-life Greek tightwad quickly becomes a nightmare for her cheesy, self-aggrandizing attorney. Add Barry’s impossible Croatian mother, a dash of current politics and a couple of opportunistic young lovers, and you have in hand a recipe for comic combustion.
About Jason Alexander:
Jason Alexander's four-decade career spans Broadway, Off-Broadway, television, and film. Broadway credits: Merrily We Roll Along (original cast); The Rink; Broadway Bound; Accomplice; Jerome Robbins' Broadway (Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle awards) and the Los Angeles production of The Producers with Martin Short. Notable film credits: Pretty Woman; Jacob's Ladder; Love! Valour! Compassion!; Dunston Checks In; The Hunchback of Notre Dame; Rocky and Bullwinkle; Shallow Hal. Television credits: "Seinfeld" (seven Emmy nominations, two Golden Globe nominations, four SAG awards, two American Comedy Awards), "Bob Patterson", "Listen Up", Bye Bye Birdie, Cinderella, "Monk", "Criminal Minds", "Voyager".
Alexander is currently the voice of Goji on Sprout's "Kody Kapow", and he is the co-creator, executive producer, and star of the new fall series "Hit The Road" which debuts this October on DirectTV's Audience network.
