Item Description
This booklet, "Psychological First Aid in Community Disasters," was prepared at the request of the U.S. Federal Civil Defense Administration by the American Psyciatric Association Committee on Civil Defense and copyrighted in 1954. On the inside cover it states that, "the manual is expected to prove widely useful not only to civil defense workers, but to physicians, medical technicians, organized volunteeer workers, policemen, firemen, nurses, social service works, military personnel, transportation officialsm and to many other upon whom people must lean in time of disaster." The manual describes the five types of reaction to disaster and the four basic principles need to help any emotionally disturb person, plus more. It is almost new with a bit of wear on the front cover. Inside pages appear to never have been touched.
