Item Description
1 Hand Forged 9 inch Damascus knife and block
This knife is very sharp and fully functional. Please handle with care. The blade was hand forged by EWS’ blacksmithing artist in residence Mark Eichinger-Wiese (Mr E-W) with layered steel “Damascus” billet.
The full tang knife has a 5 inch blade with 4 inch handle with an overall 9” length. The billet is a twist pattern “Damascus” consisting of approximately 256 forge welded alternating layers of 1095 and 15N20 high carbon steel. The handle pins are brass/died epoxy. The scales (handle sides) are of stabilized local spalted dogwood. The knife block is the same wood as the handle.
Hand forged pattern welded blades are valued by collectors with blades selling in the high hundreds to many thousands dollars. This blade forging represents many hours of work.
Item Special Note
Knife care:
- If necessary, wash and dry your knife by hand. The knife is NOT dishwasher safe as the handle is wood. The steel is NOT stainless and will rust if left wet.
- A normal knife steel should be used to keep the knife sharp.
- A very light coating of vegetable oil will help keep the knife from rusting.
This item has a reserve price of $800.
