2019 JCCCNC BOARD OF DIRECTORS WINE COLLECTION

Greetings all you wine aficionados!   We have an amazing line up of premium wines thoughtfully donated by JCCCNC Board Members.  This is one of the most popular “Tabemasho” Auction items and for good reason.

Wine Collection Includes the Following:

Billecart-Salmon Maison Fondee En 1818 Brute Reserve

The Brut Reserve is a light, fine and harmonious champagne. Its blend is made with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier from three different years, sourced from the best sites in the Champagne region.  This cuvee, with reflections of straw yellow, stands out by the finesse of its slowly rising bubbles and its persistent and abounding mousse. Maturity touched with floral freshness for this cuvée that breathes aromas of fresh fruit and ripe pears. A full and accurate flavor combined with a fine freshness and a rich bouquet bear witness to the ageing of this cuvee in the House's traditional cellars.

Foley 2016 Barrel Select Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir
Aromas of fresh raspberries and red cherry pop in the glass, with hints of sweet chambord.  This wine is light in texture but has beautiful balance on the palate of oak and fruit tones.  There is a sweet/spicy note reminiscent of spicy/sweet rooibos tea that is accented by hints of dried strawberries and raspberry fruit.  This would be the perfect wine to pair with Thanksgiving dinner

Francis Ford Coppola 2014 Dutton Ranch Reserve Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley)
A pretty label created by film production designer Dean Tavoularis graces the bottle of this wine. It offers a mix of tight-grained tannin, cherry cola and smoky oak.

Clouds Rest 2012 “Femme Fatale” Pinot Noir
Referred to by some as “The Holy Grail of Wine”, Clouds Rest Vineyards sources their incredible Pinot Noir fruit from an immaculate vineyard on Sonoma Mountain, and their Chardonnay from the renowned Sonoma Coast Appellation. The winery enlisted the talents of highly respected, veteran winemaker Tony Austin to help guide their wines from grape to bottle.  Tony studied under the legendary Andre Tchelistcheff, and now with over 30 vintages under his belt, Tony is as passionate as ever about producing Clouds Rest wines…

Kosta Browne 2015 “Kanzler Vineyard” Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

Extremely perfumed and floral with so much rose and blueberry and stone. Full body, yet agile and exciting.      Salty. It will fill in with age if you give it the chance. What a wine. From a site that’s just on the edge of the Green Valley region of the Russian River Valley, the 2015 Pinot Noir Kanzler Vineyard (from vines approaching 20 years of age) offers a darker style in its plum, blood orange, crushed herbs, and pepper aromas and flavors. Gorgeous on the palate, with a light, elegant, silky texture, medium to full-bodied richness and integrated acidity, it’s going to evolve gracefully given its balance and purity. This is the finest vintage of this cuvee to date.

Duckhorn Vineyards Napa, Cabernet Franc, 2015

At Duckhorn Vinyards, we have been working with Napa Valley Cabernet Franc for over a quarter century, exploring its ability to add elegance and complexity to our blends and its capacity to produce stand-alone wines of stature and sophistication.  Incorporating valley floor fruit with an emphasis on older vines, low yields and warmer vineyards, our Cabernet Franc offers beautiful varietal notes of dark cherry, raspberry and red currant with hints of tobacco leaf and graphite.

Production Notes: Varietal Content: 100% Cabernet Franc; Cooperage: 100% French oak; Barrel Aging: 50% New, 50% Neutral

Winemaker Notes: Grown under the warm Napa Valley sun, this gorgeous Cabernet Franc begins with enticing aromas of blackberry and figs, followed by layers of sweet spice, black licorice, milk chocolate and delicate floral notes.  On the palate, the tannins are generous, yet refined, providing an ideal framework for this wine’s abundant fruit and spice flavors.

Rock Wall 2015 Reserve Zinfandel (Rockpile)
Smoky oak and a distinct note of birch mark the nose of this broadly built, full-bodied and robustly ripe wine. Grippy tannin and leathery texture give it extra weight and breadth, with a green undercurrent of cedar and peppercorn lurking beneath.

Berringer Knight Valley 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon
A fabulous wine for the appellation, Beringer’s 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Knights Valley boasts gorgeous integration of fruit, acidity and tannin. This is an especially silky, textured wine for Knights Valley. Blue and black fruit, grilled herbs, tobacco, sage and rosemary are all layered into this relatively succulent, round Cabernet Sauvignon. Sweet floral notes along with a hint of tar and violets add complexity on the finish. The 2010 is 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc that spent 17 months in French oak barrels, 33% new. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2030.

Elizabeth Spenser Special Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2016

Soft, round and jammy in raspberry, this wine also offers sage and compost—an underlying earthiness that complements its more decadent tones marked additionally in chocolate mocha.

Caprili 2013 Brunello di Montalcino
Aromas suggesting scorched earth, underbrush, new leather and balsamic notes pave the way. The tightly knit, polished palate delivers succulent Marasca cherry, cranberry, licorice and a blast of orange zest alongside firm refined tannins. Fresh acidity ensures balance. Drink 2023–2033

Veuve Clicquot Brut Champagne-France
Veuve Clicquot's Yellow Label Brut reflects the superb vineyards they own and the consistent nature of their House style.

Grgich Hills Estate Napa Valley Chardonnay, 2013
Right from the first, this wonderfully vital youngster impresses with its sense of fruity precision, and, while it hits every one of the right varietal marks, it does so in an especially composed and well-crafted way. It is a wine of great fit and finish, and its lovely, lightly creamy oak is always in service to its juicy and very generous, fresh-apple fruit. It manages to be rich and yet light on its feet, and, if its impeccable balance guarantees a very long life, it is an expressive and beautifully polished Chardonnay that is hard to resist now.

2012 Inglenook "Rubicon" Rutherford Bordeaux Blend (1.5L)
I think it’s safe to say this is potentially the best Rubicon made to date. It’s not to denigrate other vintages, but there is a finesse and elegance combined with great richness and an avoidance of any rusticity that plagued some of the other vintages – which is to be admired. At three times the price, it’s not three times the wine of the Cask Cabernet Sauvignon. It possesses a dense purple color, beautiful, sweet crème de cassis notes with a floral underpinning. I don’t see any of the Rutherford dust, per se, but there is an undertone of earthiness. The wine is full-bodied, rich, potentially complex and certainly capable of lasting 20 to 30 or more years. This is a great young Rubicon that will have its peak in 5-7 years and last 25-30.

Madrigal 2008 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2008 Madrigal Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a delicious wine with red cherry on the nose with the hint of licorice.

Since the late 1930's three generations of the Madrigal family have farmed some of Napa Valley's finest vineyards.

Today the company is run by Chris Madrigal, the founder’s grandson. Their consulting winemaker is the acclaimed Ed Sbragia, who has built his reputation over 30 years of winemaking in the Napa, Sonoma, and Dry Creek Valleys.

2016 Navigator Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Mid-dark garnet; blackberry, prune, mint, wood nose; mid-body; good Cabernet extract; a little hard and hot; long semi-chew finish. Beef, pasta and BBQ wine.

“The wine has a dark color that extends to the rim of the glass with flavors of black currant, blackberry, black cherry and licorice. 50% American and 50% French Oak barrels were used of which 25% were new.” Winemaker’s Notes.

Good QPR but this is a fruit forward Cab. Aromas are plum, cherry and herbs de provenance. Flavors are blackberry, plum, graphite and cherry.

Lighter red in the glass, like a Pinot, Fruit Bowl here, strawberries bloom and fruit bouquet! Pleasant to drink and very smooth!
