Item Description
New Hampshire based watercolorist Constance Stowe Leathers has created a local winter scene. This is what we all visualize when thinking of winter in New England. The painting is framed and matted. 29 ½ inches by 22 ½ inches
"I have always enjoyed sketching and was encouraged by my high school art teacher, Miss Delano, in Concord, Massachusetts. I took some classes while at Middlebury College as well as in summer school at Boston University. Later, living in Avon Connecticut, my teacher Janice Loeffler was a great inspiration. More recently here in New London, I have been inspired by artists Margaret Dwyer, Ron Brown and Vicki Koron. Workshops with well-known watercolorists Jack Flynn and Skip Lawrence have also been very beneficial.
Studying art has always made me more aware and appreciative of nature and the world around me. While driving out and about, I often realize I am mentally "painting" what I see. I have discovered that my style varies with my mood. Although at times I find painting to be a challenge, it can also be an inner release. As in other creative arts, in sharing there can be a feeling of baring one’s soul."
