Childhelp is one of the largest and oldest national nonprofit organizations dedicated to meet the physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of abused and neglected children by focusing efforts and resources in the areas of prevention, treatment, research and advocacy. Programs include the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline, 1-800-4-A-CHILD staffed by professional crisis counselors who, through translators, can provide assistance in 170 languages. All calls are anonymous and confidential. Childhelp residential treatment facilities (known as "villages") are dedicated to the 24-hour-a-day treatment of court-referred, severely abused, neglected and at-risk children. Childhelp group homes provide safe, stable environments. Their mission is to repair and rebuild the souls of these children, replacing patterns of violence and distrust with positive interactions with caring adults. This is achieved through counseling, therapy, support and, most importantly, structure. Childhelp's Foster Family and Adoption Programs connect loving families with children by actively recruiting, certifying and training foster/adoptive families. Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe is a research based, comprehensive prevention education curriculum that equips children and their adult community with skills to prevent or interrupt abuse.
