Historic Houston is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving Houston's historic architecture and architectural resources through scholarly research, education and advocacy for sustainable design and the conservation of our built environment and building resources. Founded in l999, Historic Houston was begun by amateur and professional historians, architects and preservationists concerned that Houston's rich architectural heritage was rapidly disappearing. Historic Houston's diverse membership includes persons from all walks of life, including educators, historians, architects, attorneys, engineers, community leaders, and realtors as well as students and retirees from Houston and across the country. Historic Houston's efforts have been funded through private grants, corporate contributions, as well as net proceeds from revenue generating endeavors.
