Family Fund for the Performing Arts is the charitable fund of The Astaire Awards. Founded in 1982 under the auspices of Mr. Fred Astaire, the annual awards show is presented by Ava Astaire, in tribute to her father and aunt, and Patricia Watt, in tribute to her father Douglas Watt, a renowned drama, dance and music critic. The Astaire Awards celebrate excellence in dance and choreography on Broadway and in Film. At the Douglas Watt Family Fund we passionately believe in the extraordinary value of children. All children. This is why we have created the Dance Therapy Program for Children who are affected by Autism . We are dedicated to their creativity, well being and the manifestation of each child's unique potential through the therapeutic art of dance Dance and Movement.
