The American Medical Association declared addiction a disease in 1956. Since then, we have learned that it takes the work of entire communities to facilitate solutions for those affected by this disease.

TYR’s initiatives support the efforts of students, educators, families, and community members in creating sustainable recovery communities that will enhance success for young people struggling with and recovering from substance use disorders.

Prevention, intervention, and recovery support services are elements of a continuum of care that saves lives. They are also cost effective.

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, every dollar invested in effective programs saves up to 12 times the cost of the uninterrupted progression of substance use disorders and addiction.
Resources from both private and public sectors are essential to funding our initiatives and accelerating the rate of change in how we support youth in recovery in the United States.
