2019 FUND-A-NEED: Investing in Innovation: iLabs 2.0

This year’s Fund-A-Need takes our highly successful Innovation Lab program to the next level by starting a brand-new “Maker Space” for Crocker Middle School, extending iLab opportunities to our K-2 students, and updating our elementary schools’ iLab equipment. Why? A comprehensive K-8 iLab program allows HCSD to nurture a “Design Thinking” mindset in our children, arming our kids with critical thinking, engineering, and problem solving skills to better address the challenges of the new millennium. Our iLabs give our students opportunities to create, collaborate and engage in innovative Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math (STEAM)-based projects to become innovators and lifelong learners.

DONATION LEVELS:
$10,000: Enhance collaborative learning at Crocker with flexible furniture for the new Maker Space that supports active project-based learning

$5,000: Stock a mobile iLab cart to allow K-2 students at an elementary school to engage in innovative STEAM-based projects

$2,500: Purchase a new 3D printer or laser cutter for one of our iLabs to facilitate prototyping and creative hands-on solutions

$1,000:Invest in woodworking materials and sewing machines for all our elementary iLabs

$500: Support engineering explorations with new circuitry and microcontroller kits

$300: Buy a robotics kit that works with our Chromebooks to help our students practice real-world programming skills

$100: Get a power tool, like a drill or soldering iron, for tinkering and building
