We can fix this Friday night!

This is the state of the playground equipment in the courtyard at NEST+m. Everyday our children see this as they come to school, and play at recess. Parts are broken, and there are severe gaps between the black rubber safety tiles, which widen with each year.

Last month the school received an invoice from a DOE-approved contractor to make repairs to both the playground equipment and the safety tiles. The estimate was $7,335 to repair the equipment, and $12,000 to service, clean, and properly fill the gaps between the safety tiles, making the surface safe again.

The lead time required for playground repairs is 7 weeks. Because of DOE accounting practices, the school would not be able to approve payment for this work until July 1...and that's assuming the school could somehow afford this with their razor-thin budget. 7 weeks from July 1st is just a few weeks prior to the start of school, so it is extremely unlikely that work would be completed by the start of the school year.

But there's hope...Friday night, with YOUR help, we will raise $19,335 through our Fund-A-Cause, and hire the contractor next week! This will ensure the work gets done over the summer and in time for September 2019.

We can make this right for our kids, and the next generation of NEST+m students. Every dollar pledged Friday during the Fund-A-Cause at the Gala will go specifically towards funding the solution to these problems.
