The Made in Mishawaka Luncheon is an annual event that honors an individual or organization that has impacted the Mishawaka community.

This year's event will feature the 2021-2022 honorees, Marcia Wells and Dick Currey for their amazing efforts contributing to SCM and the Mishawaka community.

Marcia WellsMarcia Wells is the President of the Mishawaka Penn-Harris Library Board and was the Co-chair of the recent SCM referendum.

"Mishawaka has made me feel comfortable and significant - it gives me a sense of belonging, of making a difference, of leaving my fingerprint on a town that I love being a part of. The people of Mishawaka motivate me to do better, to be better and to encourage others to do the same. Abraham Lincoln once said "The best way to predict the future is to create it yourself." Mishawaka has a vision for its' future which is more successful than communities that just accept whatever comes along. Within that vision, I have been challenged, encouraged and accepted. It's the greatest place I've ever lived."

Dickey CurreyRichard "Dick" Currey is the former Mishawaka School Board President and was the Co-chair of the recent SCM referendum.

"As a child, Mishawaka gave me a solid foundation with its excellent schools, vibrant neighborhoods, and strong sense of community. As an adult, it has done the same for my family with many productive work, charitable, and public service opportunities through which to contribute our own small measure of value to this wonderful community our late Mayor Bob so accurately described as "the best small town in America."

Made in Mishawaka has helped provide funding for:

  • over $900,000 in grants for teachers
  • 350 pennants for students last year from Beyond the Cave
  • the opportunity to team up with Boling Eye Care with a four-year grant from United Way to provide eye tests for SCM students. Many of these tests have resulted in two FREE pair of eyeglasses for students!
  • the MEF Staff Wish List began at this luncheon four years ago and since has made 225 "wishes" happen for a total of $36,000
