All systems are go for Boypower 2012. Traveling 300 miles into the air at 17,000 mph is epic. This year's Boypower Dinner will be too, as the Longhouse Council, Boy Scouts of America welcomes NASA Astronaut Colonel Mike Mullane to the Nicholas J. Pirro Convention Center at Oncenter. Mullane was selected as a mission specialist in 1978 in the first group of space shuttle astronauts. He completed three space missions aboard the Shuttles Discovery (STS 41D) and Atlantis (STS - 27 & 36) before retiring from NASA and the Air Force in 1990. Mullane is a member of the International Space Hall of Fame and is the recipient of many awards, including the Air Force Distinguished Flying Cross, Legion of Merit and the NASA Space Flight Medal. The Boypower Dinner is Central New York's permier fundraising event benefiting the Longhouse Council, which provides scouting to youth in Central and Northern New York State, including Cayuga, Jefferson, Lewis, Onondaga, Oswego, and St. Lawrence counties.
