Description

Get a group of friends together for the new trend in fun, healthy exercise!

Compared to regular walking, Nordic walking (also called pole walking) involves applying force to the poles with each stride. Nordic walkers use more of their entire body (with greater intensity) and receive fitness building stimulation not present in normal walking for the chest, latissimus dorsi muscle, triceps, biceps, shoulder, abdominals, spinal and other core muscles.

Nordic walking benefits include:

  • Burning up to 46% more calories than regular walking
  • Increases aerobic effect by up to 25% compared to regular walking
  • Decreases load and strain on the lower body
  • Tones upper arms, shoulders and back muscles

Helene Le Guiniec currently teaches aquabike and nordic walking. She received her training at the ? Fédération belge de marche nordique?  and she has led up to 12 nordic walking groups per week near Bruxelles for the past few years. She recently moved to Berkeley and is an EB mom.

Karine Tripier works for a tech company in the bay area and enjoys hiking, cycling and skiing during her free time. She is an EB mom and alumni parent.
