Artist Bio:

Jeff Williams is a retired professor of architecture from Oklahoma State University. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees at Oklahoma State University. While working on his master?s, he won first prize in the coveted Paris Prize Design Competition and received an honorable mention in the Van Alen International Design Competition. These awards provided an opportunity to spend extensive time traveling through Europe allowing him both to experience various cultures and develop his drawing skills, which would become a lifelong passion.

Upon returning to the United States, he joined Ellerbe and Associates in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he designed projects throughout the United States, including several projects for the Mayo Clinic. In 1985 he returned to Oklahoma State University to begin his teaching career with a focus on design. His greatest joy came from interacting with students, especially when he could share his love of sketching. For over twenty years he provided leadership in the department?s Europe program, leading numerous student groups throughout Europe, helping them develop their pencil and ink line drawing techniques.

While teaching, Williams simultaneously maintained an award-winning architectural design consulting practice which included commercial, public, and private projects.

In 2017 he retired from teaching to pursue two of his passions--watercolor and travel. Inspired and encouraged by workshop leaders Tony Van Hasselt, Thomas Schaller, and most notably, Joseph Zbukvic, Williams is currently creating paintings both in-studio and ?en plein air?, a term coined by the French Impressionists meaning to paint the landscape from life ?in the open air?.
