The Portland Stage Intern Program is committed to training future generations of theater professionals. Interns at Portland Stage work with leading designers, directors, administrators, and our professional production team throughout the season. They leave with a greater knowledge of the theatrical process and the satisfaction of being part of a dedicated theater company where exceptional quality is the end goal.
Up to 12 interns each season are provided with housing and a stipend, and are fully immersed in the day-to-day operations of Portland Stage. Prior interns have gone on to work or continue their studies at the prestigious Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in Washington, DC, the Hangar Theater in Ithaca, NY, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Columbia University, and several other prestigious institutions across the US.
