Description

Adungu Melodies is an acrylic on canvas that is 46 in x 27 in and is stretched.  A work by Herbert Kalule, a dyanmic Ugandan aritst, its bright colors and strong composition will have an impact in any room.  The adungu is a traditional stringed instrument with a quintessentially African sound.  Another wonderful painting to brighten an office or home.

Herbert Kalule, like many of the other Artists EngagingNepal, is a self-taught artist inspired by social activism.  Born in Kampala in 1983 he says he has learned much from his fellow painters.  Kalule is both a visual artist and a fabric designed.  He is creative with textiles, with a very original use of color.  He has participated in numerous exhibitions in Africa and internationally.

Like his colleagues who have contributed to this effort, Herbert cares for the world in which we live and is sharing his talent with all of us in an effort to make a difference.

This painting is one of many that young artists in Nepal and Uganda have shared as they join hands with Soarway and the people of Nepal to help make a difference that matter.  Ugandans, Nepalese, and Americans.  Together.  It’s a story we’re proud of.
