Description

The Maya Research Program is offering you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in the Program’s 2018 archaeological field season at the Blue Creek site in northwestern Belize. The winning bidder will join professional archaeologists for two weeks—you’ll have a choice of dates from May to July 2018—as you excavate a fascinating Maya city and receive training in archaeological field and laboratory techniques. This trip is for one lucky person and includes meals and lodging for two weeks in addition to field equipment and in-country transportation. Blue Creek was occupied from 600 BC to 1,000 AD and has revealed many surprises over the years, including one of the richest caches of jade in Central America, along with a ballcourt and wonderful stucco friezes. What will you discover? Bid today, go to the jungle and have the adventure of a lifetime!

Item Special Note

Package includes two first-class airline tickets! Everyone is a full participant and will be involved with field excavations and laboratory work. The excavation is open to adults and college students, regardless of experience. The field school has been certified by the Register of Professional Archaeologists. If a student wishes to receive academic credit, tuition costs via the University of Texas at Tyler or the student’s home institution will apply.
