Artist Inspiration:
This piece is inspired by anime movies with dragon characters, dragons in general, and a Chinese dragon statue. The spirit dragon Shen Long is the “master of storms and bringer of rain”. Shen Long is “azure-scaled,” so Cagron’s body is blue. His spikey scales, moustache, belly, and antlers are silvery/white to add to the “airiness” feel.
Artist Bio:
Barbara Benik is an award winning artist who recently moved to Northern Colorado from Lakewood. Barbara concentrates on oil painting but works in acrylics, pencil, pen & ink, watercolor, and glass mosaics from time to time. Her work is influenced by Impressionist, post-Impressionist, and contemporary art with vibrant color and strong composition.
Barbara was a Painted Cat artist in 2015 and supports several local arts groups, including the Lakewood Arts Council, Plein Air Artists Colorado, and the 40 West Arts District.
Barbara's interests include a lifelong love of music, anything related to technology and science, literacy, and animal welfare. Being chosen as an artist for Cat Care Society's Tails of the Painted Cats is an honor and a fun way for her to support one of her favorite local animal rescue organizations.

We are offering online bidding for the Painted Cats, Flat Cats, Clay Cats and the Paper Cats from May 13th through September 13th. Online bidding will close on September 13th.
Bidding will resume at the Tails of the Painted Cats Gala Dinner & Auction on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Pinehurst Country Club from 5-8pm.
Please note: If you are unable to attend the Gala Dinner be sure to set your maximum bid online by September 13th and we will serve as your proxy bidder during the event.
All cats will be available for pick up at the Gala Dinner & Auction on September 16, 2017. This painted cat cannot be shipped and is available for pick up only.
