Artist Inspiration:

Bette makes ceramic cat jars in a variety of designs. She thought the French Artist would be a good choice. She loves all things both feline and French. She was a French major in college and has been to France many times.

Artist Bio:

Throughout her life, Bette has appreciated the creativity of the artist. However, she did not discover her own creativity until she became aware of her passion for clay. She made this discovery 30 years ago when taking a ceramics class at Emily Griffith Opportunity School where, suddenly, art became a very personal, hands-on experience.

Clay is both a physical and emotional process for Bette. She loves the discovery of what is fashioned from her own hands whether it is made on the wheel or hand built. Bette’s pieces combine form and function with an occasional touch of whimsy.

With childhood memories, family traditions, and the natural world as her chief inspirations, Bette has come to love creating everything from teapots to garden art to pieces that celebrate her love of cats. Bette’s work, both beautiful and functional, evokes thoughts of family time spent drinking tea together, enjoying the flower and vegetable gardens, and taking pleasure in all things feline.
