Description

It's Uncle Riffkin's Album Release Party! Come out and support Uncle Riffkin (featuring our very own teachers Michael Vietmeier and Tom Rankin and former teacher Seth Shapiro) as they headline a special night at El Rio, a popular and festive bar/entertainment venue in the Mission). Show is on Saturday, March 24 / doors at 9pm / show begins at 10pm (with Amy Obenski & The Elements opening for Uncle Riffkin).

By purchasing a ticket to this event through our auction site, you'll not only be supporting the school (and the band), but you'll also be entered into a drawing to win one of two fabulous prizes:

* A one-hour Uncle Riffkin private performance at your home or location of your choice!!

* A beautiful Gretsch ukulele (see description below) with a private lesson by one of the band members!!

The drawing will be held at the event and everyone who purchases a spot will be entered, but you do not need to be present to win! However, this is one show that you won't want to miss.

About the band:
From the fog-soaked garages of San Francisco, Uncle Riffkin has been searching for the lost chord in Rock 'n Roll. Made up of lead vocals and mandolin on the front line, they bring a familiar sound from the past, while lead and rhythm guitars add punches of melody, atmosphere and bounce, backed by thumping bass and drums. The 5-piece Uncle Riffkin sound bridges the new and old, paving the way down the backroads of rock, while giving nods to americana and roots music along the way. They invite people from all walks of life to join in, sing, dance, or raise a glass of whiskey as they share their songs, stories, and searing solos.

About the ukulele:
Sporting a gorgeous laminated mahogany finish and a 6" "biscuit" cone, the G9112 is a marvel of both craftsmanship and tone. This resonator ukulele is the definition of unique, and it also boasts some of the best projection ever seen in a ukulele. Due to its 6" biscuit cone, you give your notes extra sustain while upping your overall volume. As a result, you get crisp, clear notes and loads of full-bodied, authentic ukulele tone. Dual f-holes add to the unique aesthetic of this uke, while making it even more resonant. Add in quality appointments such as mother of pearl "diamond snowflake" inlays and a 1920s-style Gretsch headstock, and you have a ukulele that packs plenty of value into its convenient concert size.
