Description

You are bidding on two bottles of wine from Wild Hog Vineyard:  one 2013 Estate Zinfandel and one 2013 Estate Pinot Noir

The Pinot Noir and Zinfandel grapes are organically grown and picked by hand.

2013 Estate Zinfandel Fort Ross-Seaview
From our own organically farmed vineyard, five miles from the ocean in the hills above Fort Ross.
Dark fruit and fresh earth in the nose. Rich robust fruit on the pallet. Smooth and bit of pepper. Backbone.
423 cases were produced 15% alcohol

We started planting our Zinfandel vineyard in 1982. This zin has about ten percent petite sirah (from our own vineyard) blended in to make it a big, full well balanced wine. As always the fruit is certified organic (C.C.O.F.) These grapes are grown on a ridge five miles from the ocean in the hills above Fort Ross. Our weather extremes always make this wine complex and fruit-driven.

Our estate Zinfandel is what first brought wide attention to the wines produced at Wild Hog. Our 1992 won a gold medal and best of class at the 1994 Sonoma County Harvest Fair. The Zinfandel is big and jammy with complex flavors of pepper, spice, black raspberry, and dark cherry. It is also well balanced and thus food friendly. Around 200 to 300 cases are produced annually.

2013 Estate Bottled Pinot Noir Fort Ross-Seaview
From our own organically farmed vineyard, five miles from the ocean in the hills above Fort Ross.
This wine is a riper, bigger version of the 2012 vintage. Lush fruit, good body and solid backbone.
Hints of blackberry in the nose. Spice on the pallet.
512 cases were produced 15% alcohol

The Estate Pinot Noir has a characteristic cherry-berry fruitiness with intense flavors and a big structure. Production of this Pinot Noir is limited, making it a hard to find wine.

"All of the wines are drinking well right now. Please do remember to let these wines breathe a bit. They will open up if given a chance."
