Artist Statement: Alicia Irick Cohen is a local artist known to many as The Paint Girl. She is known for her pet portraits, and has been honored with the People?s Choice Award in Painting four years in a row for her paintings of animals. Also popular are her Paint Girl Squares which are paintings made on repurposed plywood squares gathered from the local boatyards. She is known to appear in costume at public events in her other persona, Marion Brite.

Artist Biography: Alicia Irick Cohen grew up in rural Vincentown, New Jersey and started painting lessons at the tender age of 13. She graduated from Lenape High School and went to Moore College of Art where she earned her Baccalaureate. She moved to Marblehead somewhere around 1995 (the details are fuzzy) to work at Delphin?s Gourmandise which closed within 6 months of her arrival, but not before she started getting freelance work painting murals and other artworks from people who admired her food signs in the pastry shop window. She?s been the paint girl around town ever since.
