Description

Lifetime Adoption of Johi, a 7-metre [23-foot] male whale shark

Johi (pronounced Joey) is another of the more popular sharks in the adoption program. He tends to cruise along shallow sandbanks has been re-sighted multiple times over the years since he was initially tagged.

Johi?s guardian will receive an 8"x10" photograph of him, a certificate of adoption (with their name, Johi?s name, tag number, when and where he was tagged and where he has been seen since then), and a Fact Sheet about whale sharks.

Whenever Johi is seen again, his guardian will be notified when and where the sighting occurred. This is a lifetime adoption and no annual renewal is needed.

Item Special Note

The Shark Research Institute began tagging whale sharks in 1993 and some of them are available for adoption.

Although there is no guarantee that Johi will be spotted again (he is a wild animal), all of the whale sharks tagged off East Africa that up for adoption have been sighted again in the past year.

The winning bid is deductible from US Federal 2018 income taxes as a Charitable Donation.  A tax receipt will be issued to the winning bidder.
