David Parmley & Cardinal Tradition- Friday, Decemeber 7th, 2018 at 8pm

David Parmley and his late father Don founded the Bluegrass Cardinals in 1974, and toured for nearly two decades. One of the hallmarks of this great band was David?s distinctive, warm and soulful voice, which distinguished him as one of the finest lead singers in bluegrass. David then founded another exceptional, long-lived band, Continental Divide, which he fronted for another 20 years. His current band, David Parmley and Cardinal Tradition, continues this remarkable pattern. Its members include veterans of both his prior bands who collectively represent over 180 years of bluegrass experience. Their music is traditional but not at all predictable. They breathe new life into old favorites with an easy-going yet energetic performance style that gets the whole house moving.

Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen- Friday, February 15th, 2019 at 8pm

Two-time IBMA Instrumental Group of the Year (2014, 2016). IBMA Banjo Player of the Year (Mike Munford, 2013). IBMA Instrumental Momentum Award (Chris Luquette, guitar, 2013). As this virtuoso band continues to receive instrumental honors (most recently, a 2017 nomination for IBMA Instrumental Group of the Year), their astounding instrumental skill is but one aspect of what makes them such an exciting band.  Indeed, they are the complete package, with searing, sky-high vocals and towering stage presence. A former member of Country Current, the U.S. Navy bluegrass band, bandleader Frank Solivan is a unique bluegrass stylist. He and the rest of the band bring a bluesy edge to a repertoire that includes the best of modern bluegrass along with re-imagined traditional favorites. The Emelin is delighted to have this terrific band join us for the first time.

Sister Sadie - Friday, March 15th, 2019 at 8pm

A few years ago, some of bluegrass music?s most notable performers joined forces to form this superb all-star band, Sister Sadie. The sublime vocals of 5-time IBMA Female Vocalist of the Year, Dale Ann Bradley (guitar), Tina Adair (mandolin), and Gena Britt (banjo), along with Beth Lawrence?s rock- solid bass and Deannie Richardson?s fiery fiddle, are an unbeatable combination. The emergence of women in bluegrass ? as bandleaders, as featured performers, and as supporting band members ? is a relatively recent development. The veteran members of this top-notch band are among those who have helped to pave the way.

Monroe Crossing - Friday, April 12th, 2019 at 8pm

When Minnesota-based Monroe Crossing first appeared at the Emelin in 2012, the band?s eclectic repertoire (from Bill Monroe to Motown), outstanding vocals and instrumentals, and instant rapport with the audience made them an immediate hit. Their music and stage show are as entertaining as it gets, which prompted a slew of requests for a return engagement. They have long been one of the busiest bands in bluegrass, playing well over 100 dates a year, but they rarely visit this part of the country. We are truly thrilled to have them back.
