Essex Cinemas is a locally owned and operated movie theater located in the Essex Shoppes. We opened in October 2001 as the first Stadium Seating Cinema in Vermont. That opening set the bar for comfort, technology, and innovation and we continue to stay at the forefront of movie industry change to deliver the very best movie experience to our audiences.
Our theaters offer all digital movie projection, including 6 screens with RealD 3D capabilities. RealD 3D is the industry standard when it comes to 3D and our system is the ONLY approved RealD 3D system in Vermont, which delivers the best 3D movie experience.
The cornerstone of Essex Cinemas is our state-of- the-art, 400-seat theater, showcasing the latest advances in technology and comfort, trademarked at T-REX (Theater Real Extreme) by Eurowest Cinemas. The T-Rex Theater opened in November of 2010 and features an enormous 60-foot curved screen (the largest in Vermont, by more than 70%) and uses the latest in Christie digital projection processing for both 2D and RealD 3D movies. Movie-goers can relax in extra wide leather rockers with memory foam headrests, while 18 amplifiers, 124 speakers, and our 10,400 watt Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound System provide amazing, crystal clear sound.
