Biography:
"Michel-Henry was born in Langres in 1928 and has shown strong passion for drawing since his childhood. He entered the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts of Paris in 1948 (where he brilliantly graduated in 1951). He then forms himself in Narbonne's workshop, then in Chapelain-Midy's workshop. Quickly, he is exhibited in a gallery and wins the first price of the Maison Descartes in Amsterdam in 1956, and the Casa Velázquez price in 1957. Shortly after he goes to live near Catalonia, until 1975, while doing frequent return trips to Paris where he used to exhibits regularly. He was also introduced by the American gallery Wally Findlay, which exhibits him in several American towns (New York, Chicago, Palm Beach), and in Paris on Avenue Matignon. Michel-Henry has received several awards throughout his career: he has been decorated with the award "Chevalier de l?Ordre National de la Légion d?Honneur" in 1981, "Chevalier du Mérite Agricole" in 1984, and received the "Médaille de Vermeil" of Paris in 1986, as well as the gold medal of the "Salon des Artistes Français" in 1977 and of the "Société Nationale d?Horticulture" of France in 1981, or even of the "Salon Violet" in 1991. Michel-Henry mostly represents landscapes, floral compositions and still lifes with sparkling colors and oil cristal reflections on the canvas. Winner of Gemmail International Biennale, president of the second meeting of contemporary art in Calvi in 1996, Michel-Henry is exhibited on the five continents. The same year his creations are featured in a retrospective exhibition in the Jesuite Chapel of Chaumont."
