Enjoy an evening out in Baltimore with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Choose from one of two May 2019 concerts: Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 8pm or Brahms Violin Concerto on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 3pm.
Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto: Marin Alsop leads the Orchestra in Ein Heldenleben, “A Hero’s Life,” one of Richard Strauss’ most exhilarating tone poems and a terrific showpiece for large orchestra. Tchaikovsky’s dashing and elegant Violin Concerto is performed by James Ehnes, one of the world’s most sought-after violinists. His playing has been described as "effusively lyrical and hair-raisingly virtuosic" (The Guardian).
Brahms Violin Concerto: BSO Concertmaster Jonathan Carney takes center stage for Brahms’ beloved Violin Concerto, featuring some of the most beautiful melodies in classical music. Conductor Peter Oundjian leads the Orchestra in Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 11, “The Year 1905,” perhaps the most poignant, dramatic and powerful of his 15 symphonies.
Lunch or Dinner: Before or after the performance, use your $100 gift card at Sullivan's Steakhouse in Baltimore, Maryland.
