About Just Lizzie:
I have always thought of my playful inner child as Lizzie, the artistic muse for my colorful designs. It is her ?joy, laughter and carefree spirit? that infuse these designs with vibrant energy.
Lizzie was also my paternal grandmother?s name. When my mother asked Lizzie if I could be named after her, she said ?Yes-but only if you call her Elizabeth.? My mother agreed. Interestingly, my favorite nickname for Elizabeth has always been Lizzie. I would have been quite happy to have been called Lizzie.
Although I always loved color and had an artistic sense in using it in my clothing choices and home decor, I had no sense of myself as an artist.
I discovered the artist in me purely by chance. Over 20 years ago, I was part of a mothers group that met weekly. It was summer and one of the mothers suggested having an artist friend come to our meeting and paint with us.
He arrived, providing us each with a piece of foam board, paper and a set of poster paints. I was hooked! I went home, bought my own foam board, paper and poster paints and began to paint my first series of designs.
From the beginning, I saw them applied to various products. However, life had other plans for me on the home front. I did not paint again for 10 years.
I will always remember the day, after revitalizing my dried out paints with water, sitting down and once again beginning to paint. I became lost in the color, the movement and shapes. Sitting there, I felt joy and wonder bubbling up within me and I cried.
Another intensive period of painting ensued. I was intrigued that these designs, after a ten-year hiatus, were much more detailed and refined. Again, I saw them, in my mind?s eye, applied to fabric, paper - to so many products.
Throughout the years, I periodically explored applying them to some of these products. However, only recently, certain technological advances have made it easier to accurately reproduce the vibrant colors that are Just Lizzie.
It is thrilling to bring Just Lizzie to the marketplace, knowing that these vibrantly colored, intricately patterned designs Will make their way into the hearts and homes of those who are drawn to them, spreading their positive energy far and wide.
